QuoteThey will be available in two different editions, but you can always have both.

My concern is that they are planning on discontinuing Java edition and then saying "well, the majority of Java players are playing on Windows So they can just play Bedrock!"

Currently, Java supports Windows 7 and later, and Bedrock is compatible with Windows 10 and later. I am afraid that Microsoft will decide that there is no reason to keep two distinct codebases once Windows 7 and 8 are eliminated.

This issue is not due to Microsoft's conflict of interests in (not) supporting Linux. None of the major game studios including Paradox or Valve will release full-sized games to Linux unless they have access to the majority of the software that runs on Windows. I love If a developer decides not to support the Windows version of a proprietary Linux game this would mean that it would be taken off the Linux community.

Quote: mr-victoryQuoteNot that is especially relevant to Linux players, but it does matter for me. I had the bedrock edition only because java was way more expensive but now I can play minecraft on linux. The last time I checked, purchasing BE on one platform didn’t allow me to play it on any other platform. Does that still happen? Does purchasing Minecraft on your desktop now give you Bedrock on Android and vice the reverse? Minecraft
